Overall, we were very happy with the care my father received
My father’s medical experience with Memorial Şişli was great. Everything was well-organized, and we felt supported throughout the entire process. The doctor was professional, knowledgeable, and patient in explaining every detail, which reassured us that my father was in good hands. I was also really impressed by how quickly everything was arranged. There were no unnecessary delays, and the entire medical service was coordinated seamlessly. Our online medical coordinator was always available whenever we had questions, making the whole process much easier. Having a interpreter readily available was a huge help as well—they were efficient and made communication effortless. The hospital was spotless, and cleanliness was clearly a top priority, which gave us even more peace of mind. Overall, we were very happy with the care my father received. The professionalism and efficiency of the entire team made a real difference, and I would highly recommend the hospital to anyone seeking quality medical care abroad.

The examination was successful, the results pleased me
In July 2022, I underwent an examination at the Anadolu clinic. The examination was conducted by Dr. Zafer Gulbash. Everything went very professionally, at a high level. It can be seen that the specialist is highly professional and competent. I would also like to note the high level of service of Bookimed employee Anna Khomenko. Very friendly, competent staff. I also wanted to express my gratitude to the staff of the clinic Anadol Osman Shahin, Zahida, Khalida and others, whose names I unfortunately did not remember.

SPECIAL THANKS TO BUKIMEDA COORDINATOR PAVL
I went to the Liv Istinier clinic for treatment. The treatment was planned for a month. It was provided with an examination and recommendations for treatment at home. In general, the trip went well, thanks to the coordinators Dilvar, Tuba, Niyaz. SPECIAL THANKS TO BUKIMEDA COORDINATOR PAVL. Before the trip, I read a lot of reviews, what problems there might be. I also had them, but Pavel was always in touch, and it was all solved in 5-10 minutes, without exaggeration. In 3-4 months, if everything is normal, I will go to the clinic for control.

Logistics (hotel accommodation, transfer), translator on top
The clinic is modern, the staff is attentive, competent, highly qualified. The approach to the organization of diagnosis and treatment professional. Everything went according to schedule. The language barrier was not felt. I was somewhat surprised by the lack of sanepid mode, in my opinion. Logistics (hotel accommodation, transfer), translator on top. Great site, great service. Kind, competent, attentive and caring attitude of employees. You do not feel useless and lonely.

We are all happy
At the moment, I am undergoing chemotherapy at the Medipol clinic. The clinic is very good, the doctors are attentive and friendly. Constant support of a translator helps a lot. Found this clinic with the help of booked, they very quickly organized a flight and a visit to the doctor. Accommodation for the entire period of treatment was provided by the clinic for free, as well as three meals a day. We are all happy.

Doctors seemed professional
Doctors seemed professional. Low quality translation from Turkish to Russian and vice versa. For some reason, after PET KT (perhaps a coincidence), upon returning home, it was sharply worse. We had to urgently operate, although Turkish oncologists did not see the need for an operation, but offered to wait a month.

FAQ about Chemotherapy for ovarian cancer in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What documents should I bring for medical travel to Turkey for ovarian-cancer chemotherapy?

Patients traveling to Turkey for ovarian cancer chemotherapy must present a valid passport, a medical visa or e-visa, and an official hospital invitation letter. Essential medical records include original pathology reports, DICOM-compatible imaging scans, and recent genetic testing results like BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations to guide treatment protocols.

  • Travel documents: Passport must be valid for 6 months beyond stay with two blank pages.
  • Clinical reports: Bring original pathology blocks or slides and printed chemotherapy history for oncologists.
  • Financial proof: Carry bank statements showing 5,000 USD or Euro to demonstrate treatment capability.
  • Medication list: Provide a typed list of current prescriptions in original packaging including doctor notes.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like Anadolu Medical Center follow strict American treatment standards through Johns Hopkins Medicine affiliations. This means your home records must be highly detailed. Translating your pathology reports into Turkish or English before arrival can save you up to 500 USD in local urgent translation fees.

Patient Consensus: Many suggest emailing digital scans to your clinic 2 weeks early. Bringing a 2-week supply of current medications helps avoid gaps while local prescriptions are processed.

Which leading cancer centers in Turkey provide advanced chemotherapy for ovarian cancer?

Anadolu Medical Center, Memorial Healthcare Group, and Acibadem Healthcare provide leading ovarian cancer chemotherapy in Turkey through international protocols. These JCI-accredited centers offer advanced systemic treatments, including targeted therapies and HIPEC, often through strategic collaborations with top-tier global institutions like Johns Hopkins Medicine.

  • Anadolu Medical Center: Affiliated with Johns Hopkins, providing American-standard oncology care and personalized systemic protocols.
  • Memorial Şişli Hospital: Turkey first JCI-accredited facility, specializing in complex cases and advanced HIPEC administration.
  • Hisar Hospital Intercontinental: Features MD Anderson-trained specialists focusing on integrating modern chemo-immunotherapy for gynecologic malignancies.
  • Liv Hospital Ulus: Employs advanced diagnostics to tailor platinum-based chemotherapy and innovative PARP inhibitor treatments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Anadolu Medical Center stands out because its oncologists, like Dr. Bulent Karagoz, follow strict U.S. treatment protocols via their Johns Hopkins partnership. This provides patients with access to Western-level clinical standards at Turkish price points, which typically start around $2,400 per cycle.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend shipping pathology slides to Turkey in advance to fast-track personalized treatment plans. Many highlight the affordability of combining PARP inhibitors with standard chemotherapy compared to costs in the US or Europe.

What chemotherapy drugs are used for ovarian cancer treatment in Turkey?

Chemotherapy for ovarian cancer in Turkey primarily uses platinum-based drugs like Carboplatin and Cisplatin combined with taxanes such as Paclitaxel and Docetaxel. Advanced centres offer treatments tailored by tumour genetics, sometimes using immunotherapy or targeted therapy alongside chemotherapy.

  • Common drugs: Carboplatin, Paclitaxel, Cisplatin, Docetaxel in combination regimens
  • HIPEC available: heated chemotherapy used during surgery to target residual cells
  • Clinics offer personalised protocols based on tumour genetic profiling
  • Leading hospitals like Anadolu Medical Center have JCI and European certifications
  • Systemic therapies include immunotherapy drugs such as pembrolizumab (Keytruda)

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish oncology centres blend platinum-taxane combos with newer immunotherapies and targeted therapies. Clinics with JCI accreditation, like Anadolu Medical Center and Hisar Hospital, support personalised treatment planning and have English-speaking coordinators, easing communication for Australians.

Patient Consensus: Patients report standard ovarian chemotherapy drugs in Turkey align with global practice using Carboplatin and Paclitaxel. Immunotherapy options appear for complex cases. Australian patients value clear communication and personalised care at leading Istanbul clinics.

Is HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) available for ovarian cancer treatment in Turkey?

HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) is available in Turkey for ovarian cancer treatment, typically combined with surgery to remove visible tumours. Leading oncology centres like Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli Hospital offer this treatment in JCI-accredited facilities.

  • HIPEC procedure: delivers heated chemo inside the abdomen post-surgery to kill leftover cancer cells.
  • Specialised clinics: Anadolu Medical Center and Hisar Hospital Intercontinental provide HIPEC and oncology care in Istanbul.
  • Expert oncologists: Professors like Bulent Karagoz at Anadolu Medical Center work with targeted therapies and chemo.
  • Accreditation: Several Turkish hospitals hold Joint Commission International (JCI) certification for quality cancer care.
  • Common side effects: chemo fog, hair loss, and neuropathy may occur, requiring supportive medication post-treatment.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkey’s leading hospitals frequently combine HIPEC with surgery for ovarian cancer, but clinical success rates aren’t widely published. Clinics like Anadolu Medical Center offer personalised cancer therapies aligned with European standards, making them top choices, especially for Australians seeking quality care with English-speaking coordinators.

Patient Consensus: Patients note HIPEC uses heated chemo for about 90 minutes after surgery to clear cancer cells. Recovery is slow due to the surgery size, with chemo fog and nausea managed by medications. Istanbul hospitals often provide clear guidance and support during treatment.

  • Initial visit: 2-3 weeks for diagnosis and first treatment planning in Istanbul clinics.
  • Infusion duration: standard chemo sessions last 2-3 hours; complex first cycles last up to 6-7 hours.
  • Recovery time: side effects peak 4-5 days post-infusion; immune suppression peaks days 10-14.
  • Accommodation: patients rent short-term stays near hospitals for each chemo cycle.
  • Treatment frequency: chemo cycles are spaced about 3 weeks apart, enabling fly-in-fly-out visits.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most patients follow a fly-in-fly-out schedule with 3-4 day stays every 3 weeks. Clinics like Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli Hospital offer personalised plans that avoid long continuous stays. Booking flexible accommodation near JCI-certified hospitals in Istanbul or Antalya helps manage travel for multiple cycles comfortably and safely.
