Qualifications

Dr. Dr. med. Bernhard Moser is a double board-certified surgeon at JUVENIS Medical Center in central Vienna — a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and, separately, in oral, maxillofacial and facial surgery. He is additionally qualified in hand, plastic and microsurgery. Two full specialist qualifications is uncommon, and it is what underpins his facial work: he has trained on the face from two different surgical traditions.

Training and qualifications Dr. Moser began his medical career in Vienna, working as an employed physician from 2008 to 2011, before moving to Germany for surgical training. He completed a common-trunk programme in surgery, anaesthesia and intensive care at Bad Segeberg district hospital (2012–2013), then trained as a resident in oral, maxillofacial and plastic surgery at University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) in Kiel (2014–2016). He qualified as a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2017, in the same year completed his specialist qualification in hand, plastic and microsurgery at UKSH Kiel, and in 2021 was certified as a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery. He also holds a DEGUM Level 1 diagnostic ultrasound certificate.

Hospital and clinical career From 2018 to 2021 he was a senior physician in the department of plastic surgery at the Agaplesion Diakonieklinikum Rotenburg (Wümme), and from 2021 to 2023 lead physician for the Bergman Clinics Group in Germany. He has been engaged in clinical research into microsurgical techniques at Kiel University since 2015, and in 2018 founded flaplab.org, a platform dedicated to microsurgical flap techniques. He joined JUVENIS in 2024.

Surgical focus

  • Rhinoplasty — surgical correction of the nose
  • Hand and nerve surgery — Dupuytren's contracture, trigger finger, ganglion, and nerve compression syndromes such as carpal tunnel
  • Microsurgery — nerve reconstruction and free flap procedures
  • Aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery — upper and lower eyelid correction, face and neck lifts, surgery for facial paralysis, and removal of facial tumours with reconstruction
  • Breast surgery — augmentation, reduction, lift, correction of congenital deformities and asymmetries, lipofilling, and gynecomastia surgery
  • Body-contouring surgery — abdominoplasty, upper arm lifts and thigh lifts
  • Burn surgery — acute burns and scar revision after burns
  • Liposuction and lipofilling

Why the microsurgical background matters Microsurgery is operating under a microscope on structures a millimetre across — nerves and blood vessels. It is the most technically demanding part of plastic surgery, and it is where free tissue transfer, nerve repair and facial reanimation come from. A surgeon who researches and teaches it brings that precision to ordinary aesthetic work too, and it is what makes the difficult cases possible: reconstruction after tumour removal, restoring movement to a paralysed face, or repairing a hand after injury.

Languages Dr. Moser treats patients in German, English, Russian and Spanish — four languages.
