How Much Does Bottom surgery Cost in Turkey?

Bottom surgery in Turkey typically costs from $9,000 to $15,000. The final price depends on the specific reconstruction technique, the surgeon's expertise, and the chosen medical facility. In the US, similar procedures cost around $45,000 on average. Patients in Turkey save approximately 73% while receiving care in JCI-accredited hospitals. Packages often include surgical fees, hospital stays, luxury accommodation, and VIP transfers.

  • Procedure technique: Modern methods like peritoneal flap or robotic-assisted surgery typically add 20-30% to base costs.
  • Clinical destination: Istanbul serves as the primary hub, while clinics in Izmir offer competitive regional pricing.
  • Surgeon expertise: Fees vary for professors with ISAPS certification or extensive reconstructive experience in Europe and USA.
  • Facility tier: Five-star hospitals with advanced technologies like da Vinci XI robotic systems command higher package prices.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a multidisciplinary center like Lokman Hekim or VM Medical Park ensures safer outcomes. These hospitals integrate urology and plastic surgery departments for complex gender-affirming cases. Since many Turkish surgeons, like those at Medipol, hold European Board of Urology (FEBU) certification, patients get international-standard care at local prices. Smart travelers should look for clinics that include 7-10 days of post-operative hotel monitoring.

My surgeon was great; he was honest about what results were realistic for my body and clearly explained all the risks, which gave me confidence
If you're thinking about this, my main piece of advice is to be mentally ready for the procedure, as it can be overwhelming. I’m in early recovery from my breast reduction and lift, and I am feeling better than expected. My surgeon was great; he was honest about what results were realistic for my body and clearly explained all the risks, which gave me confidence. The clinic team was easy to reach and stayed in touch. Do be aware of some additional expenses – I had a prescription that cost extra at the pharmacy. A few practical tips: bring a spare compression garment, cotton t-shirts to wear underneath it, and your own snacks. Also, having my mum with me has been pivotal to my recovery, so I'd suggest bringing a companion if you can.
The co-ordinator at Bookimed, Winnington was brilliant. No matter how many questions I had he was able to answer them promptly and with one small hiccup from the hospital Winnington went out of his way to try and package a new procedure for me. My co-ordinator Eyyub at Optimed hospital was outstanding. The hospital was great, the staff on my floor were fantastic. We used goggle translate when the co-ordinator wasn’t with us if we came up against a language barrier but that was not very often. I was cared for before and after my surgery by the nursing staff who could not do enough for myself and my mum. I 10000000% recommend Bookimed & Optimed hospital
Post op instructions could be better. I have suggested to them to put together a general guide of what to do and not to do and for however long. What’s normal and if something doesn’t feel right who to contact etc. I think this will greatly help international patients and help the hospital co-ordinators from being hounded with a load of questions from several patients all at once. Peace of mind for the patient and a little more support for the co-ordinator. The food is catered for Turkish patients and can be hard for international patients to eat. Again, I have suggested to them to try having a small box of fibrous cereal available at breakfast time and instead of a full meal at lunch time something simple like sandwiches or rolls/bagels/baked goods. Dinner was usually ok and we were able to eat most of that but our daytime diet is a little less than they were providing and there was a lot of food waste which they could minimise & use the money elsewhere if there was a cater to international patients diets.

The single positive aspect of this entire process was the staff. They were wonderful. Unfortunately, my experience with the surgeon and the clinic itself was profoundly disappointing, and I'm very concerned with how my otoplasty recovery is going so far. The gap between the supportive staff and the actual medical treatment I received is hard to understand. The facility did not meet my expectations for a medical setting in any capacity. Based on this, I would absolutely not recommend this clinic to anyone considering a similar procedure.
Do not go with bookimed.com. I didn’t liked from the moment when I arrived to airport anyone wasn’t there to pick me up, you know when you arrive any place you have no internet and you can’t make any phone calls or text so night mares already start.

The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent
The possibility of breathing issues was my primary concern going into this. And honestly, that has been the biggest challenge in recovery so far, with one nostril constantly feeling stuffed. My surgeon performed a closed rhinoplasty. Everything is still very swollen along the bridge, but I can already see that my nose tip appears more refined, which is a great sign. The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent. The general staff were great, though post-op instructions could have been a bit more explicit. I'm satisfied with the medical care I received so far
Dr. Erol is an amazing doctor, his work was amazing he truly listened to my request and expectations and he was really patient and reassuring. The medical assistance team as well, they really took good care of me, they were present when i needed them.
post-op instructions could’ve been explained better

I felt in such safe hands throughout and would recommend my surgeon Dr Yunus Emre Seker and his team to anyone
I loved the coordinator / interpreter. Totally made me feel at ease and comfortable in what I would only describe as an anxious situation especially with the language barrier and the unknown of where you are going. The surgeon himself was wonderful and even had a coffee with me before hand which made me feel completely at ease. I felt in such safe hands throughout and would recommend my surgeon Dr Yunus Emre Seker and his team to anyone. Thank-you so much :)

The lift in my jowls is already a dramatic improvement
My biggest worry was how the final result would look, and whether it would be worth the recovery. Even though I’m still quite puffy around my jawline, the lift in my jowls is already a dramatic improvement. That part is a huge relief. The staff and clinic environment were excellent from start to finish. Turning my head feels slightly tight but okay. The surgeon did good work, though I rated them a 4/5 as I felt some communication could have been a bit more compassionate after surgery. The most challenging part has absolutely been sleeping elevated. That's no fun. I would still recommend this clinic.
The Bookined coordinator and the Quartz Clinic staff were fantastic: supportive, helpful, compassionate. All updates were communicated to me promptly. The hotel booked for me is really excellent, with smooth transfers and kind drivers. Spot on!
I didn't give the doctor 5 stars because she made me cry the day after surgery. She could adopt a different approach towards me after surgery, with more understanding and compassion, especially since I was there on my own and at the end of the day, she's received all the information required, it doesn't matter from whom. The stress has a significant impact on me. Aside from that, she was great.

The moment I saw the result, even with the initial swelling, I could tell the shape was exactly what I wanted
The moment I saw the result, even with the initial swelling, I could tell the shape was exactly what I wanted. It’s a great feeling. My goal was a more defined tip, and that's precisely what the surgeon delivered using an open approach. The whole process was smooth, and the staff were genuinely caring. The most difficult part of recovery so far is just having to sleep upright, which is temporary. A huge bonus is that I am breathing perfectly through my nose already. I am so grateful for the surgeon's skill and the clear communication from the team.

the care provided by the surgeon and all the staff was impeccable
If you’re thinking about arm liposuction, I’d advise you to prepare for the recovery. My surgeon used the VASER ultrasound technique and, although it’s still early days, my compression sleeves are already too loose. My mobility is limited; my biggest difficulty right now is reaching for things above my head. It’s also important to be patient with the results, because when I look in the mirror today, I can see that one arm looks different from the other, and I’m confident that will even out over time. Despite these minor aspects of the process, the care provided by the surgeon and all the staff was impeccable. I would recommend the clinic.

The surgeon and staff were brilliant and supportive throughout
My biggest worry was ending up with an unnatural shape, but the surgeon’s approach and clear communication completely put me at ease. Right now, things still look a little patchy as about half the transplanted hairs have fallen out, which I was told to expect during this early stage of healing. It’s a process. The biggest challenge has honestly been a personal one: just remembering to avoid touching them! The surgeon and staff were brilliant and supportive throughout. While the clinic facilities were fine, the personal care from the team made all the difference. I'm very satisfied with my choice.

The surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin
I was worried that the scars from the upper and lower eyelid surgery would be noticeable. Fortunately, the surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin. I have no complaints about him whatsoever. However, the overall impression was greatly marred by the clinic itself, where the conditions were unsatisfactory. Recovery is still ongoing. My eyes are still swollen, and I’ve noticed that when I smile, one side looks slightly different. I hope this will pass. The main advice I would give to anyone considering this procedure is to prepare thoroughly for the period before and after the operation.

I remember seeing the computer imaging of my new nose during the consultation and feeling confident. My surgeon was very honest about what was realistic, and I appreciated that he personally handled everything from that first meeting to the surgery itself. He performed an open rhinoplasty to reshape my bridge and tip. Right now, I am feeling better than expected. The clinic staff has been great with follow-up; they've stayed in touch, are easy to reach, and gave me a clear aftercare guide. It was also reassuring that there were no additional expenses. If you're wondering what to bring, don't worry—they prepare you for everything, and nothing was missing for me.
Everything was wonderful, we are very satisfied, everyone was helpful and very kind and the results are the best.

I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter
I felt very secure and taken care of through the entire experience. All of my inquiries were answered very promptly by both the bookiemed coordinator, the assistant, and my doctor (Dr. C Altindąg), is very experienced and talked me through what to expect and analyzed my nose very thoroughly. I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter (I had a severe deviated septum and other complications from a past surgery that he identified and corrected including a mirgrated graft and a droopy tip). I'm still quite swollen but look forward to seeing final results in a few months.

I now feel better than I expected
What I remember most about the whole process was the doctor’s approach. Before the operation, he personally marked the incision lines on my upper eyelids and honestly explained what I could realistically expect from the result. The procedure was carried out under general anaesthetic, and I now feel better than I expected. It was a great help that the doctor personally checked on me after the operation, and the clinic provided clear aftercare instructions. There were no additional costs. The only advice I would give to future patients is to make sure you confirm the exact date and time of the operation in advance.

FAQ about Bottom surgery in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the legal and medical prerequisites for bottom surgery in Turkey?

p>To undergo bottom surgery in Turkey, candidates must be at least 18 years old and provide a psychiatric diagnosis of gender dysphoria. Legal protocols follow Article 40 of the Turkish Civil Code, while private clinics typically adhere to WPATH standards, including hormone therapy and mental health referral letters.

  • Age requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years old to legally consent to surgery.
  • Psychiatric evaluation: A formal diagnosis of gender dysphoria from a licensed mental health professional is mandatory.
  • Medical board report: Official health councils must confirm surgery is necessary for the patient's mental health.
  • Marital status: Turkish law requires applicants to be unmarried to obtain local court authorization.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Turkish law is strict for citizens, international patients often experience a much faster timeline. Data shows the process from inquiry to surgery takes only 2–3 months in Turkey. This contrasts with the 1–3 year wait times common in Western countries. Clinics like Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital and VM Medical Park Pendik Hospital maintain JCI accreditation, ensuring these expedited timelines do not compromise international safety standards.

Patient Consensus: Many patients appreciate that private clinics offer remote video consultations to review medical history before travel. They emphasize the importance of arranging local post-operative care in their home country before departing for Istanbul.

How long does full recovery take after bottom surgery?

Full recovery after bottom surgery in Turkey typically takes 12 months for tissues to settle and sensation to return. While initial hospital discharge occurs within 7 days, patients must wait 6 to 8 weeks for primary wound healing and 3 months before resuming sexual activity.

  • Hospital stay: Expect 3 to 7 days of clinical monitoring with a urinary catheter in place.
  • Initial healing: The first 6 weeks Require restricted movement and no lifting over 10 lbs.
  • Work return: Most patients resume sedentary office tasks between 6 to 10 weeks post-operation.
  • Erogenous sensation: Nerve regrowth is gradual, usually peaking between 3 to 9 months for most.
  • Final aesthetics: Swelling resolves fully by month 12, revealing the final surgical shape and results.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows Turkish clinics often implement aggressive post-operative protocols that may reduce long-term complications. While U.S. costs average $45,000, choosing JCI-accredited centers in Istanbul like Lokman Hekim provides high-level safety at 73% savings. This financial flexibility often allows patients to stay locally for several weeks, improving early-stage recovery monitoring.

Patient Consensus: Focus on the 3 to 6-month window for social recovery when scars fade and basic functions stabilize. Commitment to lifelong dilation is essential to prevent depth loss and avoid months of corrective delays.

How do I verify that a Turkish surgeon is qualified for bottom surgery?

Verifying a Turkish surgeon for bottom surgery requires confirming their Turkish Medical Association (TTB) registration and board certification in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery (TSPRAS). Seek Surgeons with European Board (EBOPRAS) or International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) credentials to ensure global safety standards.

  • Medical licensure: Confirm valid registration with the Turkish Medical Association and verify their TTB number.
  • Board certification: Ensure specialty certification from the Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.
  • International credentials: Prioritize surgeons with EBOPRAS certification or active memberships in ISAPS and EPATH.
  • Facility accreditation: Verify the hospital holds Joint Commission International (JCI) or ISO accreditation for safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinical volume is the most reliable indicator of success in Turkey. While many surgeons hold impressive titles, top-tier specialists like those at Anadolu Medical Center or Lokman Hekim often manage over 1,000 procedures annually. Surgeons who actively publish international research, such as Dr. Cevper Ersoz with over 130 publications, typically stay updated on the latest reconstructive techniques.

Patient Consensus: Former patients emphasize requesting private photo galleries of 50 or more identical procedures. Many recommend video calling 3 to 5 recent patients to hear unfiltered truths about complication rates and aftercare quality.

What is typically included in Turkish all-inclusive bottom-surgery packages?

Turkish all-inclusive bottom surgery packages bundle medical fees, private hospitalization, and travel logistics into a single price. Standard inclusions feature the primary surgical procedure, preoperative testing, 3–7 nights of specialized in-clinic recovery, hotel stays, and VIP airport-to-clinic transfers for a seamless experience.

  • Medical fees: Covers surgeon, anesthesiologist, and operating room costs for vaginoplasty or phalloplasty.
  • Clinical stay: Includes 3–7 nights in a recovery facility with 24/7 nursing care.
  • Travel logistics: Provides VIP transfers between the airport, hotel, and clinic for all visits.
  • Post-operative essentials: Includes initial medications, compression garments, and basic recovery supplies like painkillers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics like Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital utilize JCI-accredited facilities, the most comprehensive packages often include 5–10 nights of hotel accommodation. Our data shows that high-volume centers performing 1,000+ specialized surgeries annually typically offer more robust in-person follow-up schedules. Always verify if your package includes 1–3 in-person post-op visits before departure, as these are critical for monitoring healing.

Patient Consensus: Expect to budget 20–30% extra for long-term recovery needs like specialized dilation tools and lubricants. Patients often find that while travel is covered, extended stays for managing minor healing concerns are usually out-of-pocket expenses.

What are the common health risks associated with bottom surgery in Turkey?

Common health risks for bottom surgery in Turkey include tissue necrosis, urinary strictures, and vaginal stenosis. Major centres perform genitourinary reconstructive surgery using microsurgery and robotic techniques. Complications like rectovaginal fistulas or labial asymmetry often require secondary revision surgery. This restores function or helps with the aesthetic appearance.

  • Functional complications: Rectal injury occurs in 1.2% of cases during genital feminisation procedures.
  • Urinary issues: Shortened urethras frequently cause infections or spraying during urination after surgery.
  • Healing risks: Granulation tissue and wound breakdown are common due to delayed internal healing.
  • Structural stenosis: Narrowing of the vaginal canal affects 3.4% of patients, requiring dilation.
  • Revisions: Roughly 23.1% of patients eventually require secondary surgeries for functional improvements.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Success often depends on urological expertise rather than just plastic surgery. Surgeons like Dr Ramazan Gökhan Atis at Medipol have German training in robotic urology. Choosing a specialist with a reconstructive urology background reduces the risk of long-term urinary complications.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey highlight that monitoring for odour or fever helps catch early infections. They recommend staying longer to have the surgical team supervise the first weeks of dilation.

How can I verify the qualifications of surgeons performing gender reassignment surgery in Turkey?

Verifying surgeons for bottom surgery in Turkey involves confirming board certification with the TPRECD (Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons). Patients should prioritise specialists with international credentials like EBOPRAS. They should also choose hospitals holding JCI accreditation for rigorous safety standards.

  • Board certification: Confirm TPRECD membership and international fellowships such as FEBU for urological reconstructive specialists.
  • International credentials: Look for surgeons with ISAPS membership or EBOPRAS certification, like Dr Can Zeliha Gul.
  • Facility standards: Select clinics in JCI-accredited hospitals, such as Odin Clinic, for global safety protocols.
  • Specific expertise: Verify training in microsurgery or genitourinary reconstruction. This is essential for complex bottom surgery techniques.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Cross-referencing clinic marketing with hospital staff directories is vital. Many clinics in Istanbul and Izmir market bottom surgery. However, top-tier outcomes often come from multi-disciplinary teams. For instance, specialists like Dr Ramazan Gökhan Atis have international robotic training. This is a significant quality indicator for reconstructive precision.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey suggest requesting the surgeon's full legal name. This helps verify registration through official hospital staff pages. They recommend choosing providers who are transparent about revision pathways. They also suggest looking for long-form photo timelines rather than just polished social media posts.

Are hospitals for bottom surgery in Turkey internationally accredited?

Leading Turkish hospitals for bottom surgery maintain international accreditation through bodies like Joint Commission International (JCI) and ISO. Specialists often hold certifications from EBOPRAS (European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery). They also follow WPATH standards for gender-affirming care.

  • Hospital accreditation: Facilities like Odin Clinic hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation for safety.
  • Quality management: Istanbul EsteCapelli Clinic partners with JCI hospitals and holds ISO 9001 certification.
  • Surgeon credentials: Dr Ozge Utku Aydemir and Dr Can Zeliha Gul possess EBOPRAS certifications.
  • Specialist memberships: Many surgeons maintain active status with the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
  • Government oversight: Reliable clinics carry the International Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate from Turkey.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Accreditation is strictly site-specific in Turkey. Patients should confirm the JCI status of the exact hospital building where surgery occurs. Bookimed data shows partner hospitals like those used by Istanbul EsteCapelli Clinic prioritise these certifications. They support 2,500+ international patients annually.

Patient Consensus: Confirm the specific accrediting body and hospital name before booking. Many suggest verifying the surgeon's experience and requesting digital copies of certificates. This ensures safety standards meet Australian expectations.

What is the expected length of stay in Turkey for recovery following bottom surgery?

Patients should plan to stay in Turkey for 14 to 21 days following bottom surgery. This allows for a safe recovery and essential follow-up. This timeframe includes 3 to 7 days in hospital. Patients then spend another 7 to 14 days in local accommodation for wound monitoring. This period also covers the removal of catheters or sutures.

  • Hospital stay: Typically requires 3 to 7 nights for monitoring by specialist surgical teams.
  • Initial monitoring: Patients stay in Turkey for another 7 to 10 days after discharge.
  • Follow-up appointments: Surgeons perform necessary checks and wound care before clearing patients for travel.
  • Recovery milestones: Desk work is usually manageable after 4 to 6 weeks of initial healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish clinics such as Istanbul EsteCapelli Clinic include accommodation and transfers in their logistics planning. These bundled services are vital because initial recovery requires specific positioning. Confirming these inclusions prevents the stress of navigating local transport while managing post-operative discomfort.

Patient Consensus: Visitors to Turkey suggest staying 3 to 4 weeks for a safer recovery cushion. This extra time helps Australians manage the long-haul flight without rushing while still sore or swollen.

What are the Body Mass Index (BMI) limits for patients undergoing bottom surgery in Turkey?

Most surgeons in Turkey require a Body Mass Index (BMI) below 30–35 for bottom surgery. This range helps protect patient safety and supports better results. Individual clinics assess cases independently. However, staying within this range reduces risks of infection and anaesthesia complications during long procedures.

  • Standard range: Most Turkish specialists prefer a BMI under 30 for the best recovery.
  • Upper limit: Surgeons generally set a hard cut-off at 35 to prevent wound issues.
  • Underweight risks: A BMI below 18.5 may need medical clearance due to healing concerns.
  • Specialist assessment: Centres like Istanbul EsteCapelli Clinic evaluate conditions like diabetes alongside BMI figures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows 390 clinics in Turkey offer gender-affirming care. Many surgeons specialise in post-bariatric surgery as well. Centres like Odin Clinic are designated Units of Excellence for metabolic health. Patients near the BMI threshold often benefit from clinics providing weight management before surgery.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey find that BMI cut-offs vary between 30 and 35. Many report that surgeons assess body composition rather than just weight before approving surgery.

What types of bottom surgery procedures are available for patients travelling to Turkey?

Patients travelling to Turkey can access bottom surgery procedures including vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, and metoidioplasty. Leading centres in Istanbul and Izmir specialise in microsurgery and reconstructive flap techniques. These clinics routinely perform gender-affirming surgeries for international patients. They provide multi-stage reconstructive and aesthetic care.

  • MTF procedures: Surgeons perform vaginoplasty using penile inversion or peritoneal flap techniques.
  • FTM procedures: Patients access phalloplasty with radial forearm or ALT flap microsurgery.
  • Reconstructive techniques: Specialised microsurgery supports proper sensation and blood flow in neophallus construction.
  • Urological support: Specialists like Dr Ramazan Gokhan Atis provide robotic and laparoscopic reconstructive expertise.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish centres often integrate plastic surgeons with reconstructive urologists for these cases. Basic bottom surgery starts from $9,000. Multi-stage sex reassignment typically ranges from $12,000 to $22,500. This collaborative approach helps manage urological outcomes alongside aesthetic results. Are there specific legal requirements or documentation needed for bottom surgery in Turkey?

International patients seeking bottom surgery in Turkey must be at least 18 years old. They must provide a psychiatric report confirming gender dysphoria. Clinics generally follow standards set by WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health). These standards require patients to have lived in their identified gender for 12 months. Documentation often requires certified translation into Turkish before surgery.

  • Age requirement: Patients must be at least 18 to undergo gender affirmation procedures.
  • Psychiatric evaluation: A board-certified psychiatrist must officially diagnose gender dysphoria before surgery proceeds.
  • WPATH standards: Surgeons typically require 12 months of hormone therapy or lived experience.
  • Health screenings: Hospitals perform blood tests for Hepatitis B, C, and general fitness.
  • Accreditation status: Leading Istanbul clinics like Istanbul EsteCapelli hold JCI accreditation for safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Private clinics handle the surgery. However, patients wanting legal gender recognition in Turkey must use state hospitals. Australians should choose clinics with the International Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate, like Odin Clinic. This certification shows the facility meets strict government standards for international patients.
