All the staff and doctors were skilled, helpful, and very kind; my experience has been very good
All the staff and doctors were skilled, helpful, and very kind; my experience has been very good. My main concern was finding the right surgeon, and I'm happy with my choice for a deep plane facelift. The procedure addressed my full face and neck, and so far, my recovery is progressing about as expected. The clinic has been supportive, providing a clear aftercare guide and being easy to reach. Just note that my medications were an additional expense of $4000 pesos. My best advice: check reviews.
All the staff and doctors were skilled, helpful, knowledgeable, and very kind. My experience has been very good.

I am 3 months post op and I have zero regrets
The experience I had with Dr Marroquin far exceed my expectations. I am an American living in Miami, FL. I inquired with surgeons locally before deciding to travel abroad for my deep plane face and neck lift with blepharoplasty. After extensive research I found Dr Marroquin, I read through all the patient testimonials I could find and looked at all his before and after photos. I reached out to him via Bookimed. At first I thought I was being scammed, the people at Bookimed did not speak very good english, I could tell I was communicating with a non native english or spanish speaker. The communications came in at weird hours of the day. After a few back and forth, I said I would not proceed any further without speaking with someone from Dr Marroquins office. That same day someone claiming to be Dr Marroquin contacted me on Whatsapp. I thought for sure it was a scam, so at first I ignored him. In Miami you would have to be dying in order for the surgeon to speak with you directly. I told him I was feeling uneasy and he suggested we set up a video call for later that day, I thought there is no way its going to be him on the phone, and sure enough it was him! He took his personal time on a Sunday to call me. We spoke for almost an hour, and at the end of that call I was 100% sure this was my doctor. He is so down to earth and approachable, he made me feel so at ease. I let him know the next day I wanted to proceed with the surgery, from that point on I only communicated with him. He helped me to schedule the surgery, my preop appointments and made recommendations for recovery houses. In less than a month I arrived in Guadalajara, he met with me the next day and we discussed the surgery in length. At that point I decided to add a lip lift to the procedure. I passed all my preop and had my surgery on August 26th. Dr Marroquin was amazing the day of surgery, he spoke to me in english (which he speaks very well), he made sure I understood every step of the process. Everything went very well, I spent the next 10 days in Mexico recovering at a recovery house. I spoke with Dr Marroquin every day while I was there. I had zero complications and flew home after 10 days to continue my recovery at home. I am 3 months post op and I have zero regrets. I speak with Dr Marroquin every few weeks and keep him updated on my progress with photos. If you are considering this surgery, I 100% recommend having a consultation with Dr Marroquin, he is an amazing doctor and human being.
I liked how personal the service was, I really got to know my doctor and felt 100% at ease with him.
I wish I would have waited for the recovery house I wanted to use to have availability. They were booked up so I decided to use another one that was not as highly rated. It was not a bad experience, but it could have been better.

The surgeon was good but the coordinator Carlo made too many mistakes. 1. Didn’t book continuous days at hotel. 2. As a result, I was kicked out of room the day I was in surgery. . 2. Need more after care days to remove drainage. I was abruptly kicked out of TJ while I was still feeling weak. Needed more days in Tijuana. At least 2 more. Return to America and no one wanted to remove drainage tubes. 3. The day nurse talked bad about me to everyone. The night nurse , Paulina was perfect. I would never recommend surgery in Mexico. No need to go viral with this because all of USA know this. Mexican are much better at picking fruits!

Dr
Dr. Marraquin was amazing. He spent over an hour with me on my consultation before my surgery. Let me know absolutely everything that was going to happen. His years of training is quite obvious to anybody who is requesting his services. He answered every question I could possibly think of. Additionally, he was available through text messaging 24 hours a day. He’s response time was impressive. I was very pleased with the outcome of my facelift. I would refer him to any buddy I know.

my doctor, Dr
My doctor, Dr. M., was outstanding. He was accessible via text message, very experienced, and knowledgeable. I cannot comment on the results yet, as I am only 10 days post-op, but I will definitely return to update my review. So far, I recommend him to anyone considering surgery, 10 out of 10. I truly cannot praise his professionalism enough.
I liked how the doctor explained everything to me in details that I understood made sure I understood exactly what was happening as well as being realistic about how long it will take in the journey to get there. And just knowing that he and his staff were there for me at all times during my stay.
Overall, it was a very positive experience and I don’t think I have any one particular item that I did not like of course nobody likes having surgery done however they made it as comfortable as possible

I like the environment and how everything was set up
I like the environment and how everything was set up. I think you should have more instructions on how to care for yourself. I think you should have a care package while you are there to take care of yourself, too.
The staff was nice
I didn't like that they stuck me 5 times to put a iv in.

FAQ about treatment in Mexico

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to get a facelift in Cancún?

Getting a facelift in Cancun is safe. The surgeon should be certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery (CMCPER). Clinics like Riviera Institute and Dr. Victor Samano use JCI-accredited hospitals. They follow American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) protocols for monitoring and sterile environments.

  • Surgeon credentials: Surgeons like Dr. Rafael Velasco Marin hold over 30 years of surgical experience.
  • Hospital accreditation: Top clinics operate within JCI-certified facilities equipped with ICU and emergency backup.
  • Safety standards: Local specialists maintain certifications from international bodies like ISAPS and ASPS.
  • Recertification rules: Surgeons undergo mandatory recertification every 5 years to maintain their clinical practicing licenses.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Cancun is a resort hub, but the safest clinics treat over 300 international patients annually. Data shows clinics like Riviera Institute combine JCI accreditation with ASPS membership. This bridges the gap between holiday locations and strict US medical standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that safety depends on choosing a hospital with emergency backup. A small cosmetic suite lacks this. Plan aftercare carefully. Local doctors back home may decline to manage complications from overseas surgeries.

What is included in the price of a facelift in Cancún?

Facelift packages in Cancun typically bundle surgical fees, anesthesia, and facility costs into one price. Most offers include pre-operative tests like blood work and EKGs, one overnight hospital stay, and post-operative medications. They also provide VIP airport transfers to make the trip smooth.

  • Medical team: Covers fees for board-certified plastic surgeons and specialized anesthesiologists.
  • Hospital facilities: Includes operating room use and typically 1 overnight stay post-surgery.
  • Diagnostic tests: Bundles blood work, chest X-rays, and cardiology consults before surgery.
  • Recovery support: Often includes daily nursing visits to your hotel for monitoring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Cancun clinics like Riviera Institute or Dr. Víctor Samano often provide more complete support than standard medical centers. US procedures average $17,900. Cancun packages, on the other hand, frequently include daily professional nursing care at your hotel. This added service removes the stress of handling immediate wound care on your own.

Patient Consensus: Patients often say that these all-inclusive deals remove the guesswork by covering every transport need. Patients appreciated having a private nurse during their hospital stay. They also appreciated seeing their surgeon daily for follow-ups.

What questions should I ask a facelift surgeon in Cancún during a consultation?

When you see a facelift surgeon in Cancún, check that they have CMCPER certification from the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery. They should also be a member of AMCPER. Ask about their specific experience with deep plane or SMAS techniques. Also, ask for a detailed incision map to understand what the scars might look like.

  • Board certification: Make sure the surgeon has active CMCPER certification and is a member of AMCPER or ISAPS.
  • Procedure volume: Ask how many facelifts the surgeon performs each year to make sure they are highly experienced.
  • Technique rationale: Discuss why a specific technique like deep plane is right for your facial anatomy.
  • Facility accreditation: Make sure the surgery takes place in a JCI-accredited or internationally certified hospital.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Top-rated Cancún surgeons, like those at Riviera Institute, are recognized by international bodies such as ASPS. Base facelift prices at Kaloni start around $3,500. However, during your consultation, focus on the surgeon's recertification. They must be recertified every 5 years, as required by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery.

Patient Consensus: Patients say to bring a written checklist and ask for an exact recovery timeline. They also stress that you should confirm who will manage your aftercare when you return home.

What types of facelifts are available in Cancún?

Cancun clinics offer different facelift techniques, including deep plane, SMAS, and mini facelifts. Board-certified surgeons also perform neck lifts and non-surgical regenerative therapies. Most procedures take place in JCI-accredited facilities. Surgeons often combine a facelift with fat transfer or eyelid surgery for full facial rejuvenation.

  • Deep plane facelift: Repositions deep muscle layers for natural results lasting over 10 years.
  • SMAS facelift: Targets the superficial muscular system to correct moderate-to-severe sagging and jowls.
  • Mini facelift: Uses shorter incisions to address mild lower face and jawline aging.
  • Regenerative options: Includes stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma to stimulate collagen production.

Bookimed Expert Insight: People often search for isolated facelifts. However, clinics like Perfect Skin Cancún focus on full-face makeovers and serve over 20,000 patients annually. Data shows that combining a lift with fat transfer is a common professional recommendation in Cancun. It helps restore lost volume that a surgical pull alone cannot fix.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently highlight the deep plane technique as the gold standard for avoiding a pulled look. Patients often recommend asking if a neck lift is included. Most successful outcomes treat the face and neck together.

How long do the results of a facelift in Cancún last?

Facelift results in Cancún typically last between 7 to 15 years. The exact duration depends on the surgical technique used. The procedure resets your appearance by about 10 years. However, natural aging continues from a younger baseline. Deep plane techniques offer the most long-lasting facial rejuvenation results.

  • Technique longevity: Deep plane facelifts often last 10–15 years, while mini-lifts average 5–8 years.
  • Surgical expertise: Board-certified surgeons at Riviera Institute have credentials from ASPS and JCI.
  • Results timeline: Final facial contours settle after 6 months once internal swelling fully resolves.
  • Maintenance factors: Sun protection and weight stability are critical for preserving surgical tightening effects.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Cancún clinics offer a high concentration of dual-certified surgeons. For instance, specialists at Dr. Víctor Samano’s clinic hold memberships in both ASPS and CMCPER. This level of cross-border certification means your procedure meets international longevity standards. The cost is about 59% less than US prices.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that aging never stops. But they still look significantly younger than their untreated selves a decade later. Most patients stress that protecting your skin from the intense Cancún sun is vital. This helps maintain your results.

What is the recovery time for a facelift in Cancún?

Recovery for a facelift in Cancún typically takes 2 to 3 weeks for visible healing. After that, most patients can return to work. Light activities can resume within 14 days. However, full results take several months to appear. Deep tissue swelling and residual numbness gradually subside during that period.

  • Travel duration: Plan to stay in Cancún for at least 8 to 14 days.
  • Suture removal: Surgeons typically remove stitches between day 7 and day 8 post-op.
  • Activity restrictions: Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Sun protection: Protect incisions from intense Mexican sun to prevent permanent darkening of scars.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Analysis of Cancún clinics shows high specialization among surgeons. Some, like Dr. Rafael Velasco Marin, have over 30 years of experience. Interestingly, clinics like Perfection Makeover and Kaloni highlight a key point. Local prices remain about 3 to 4 times lower than in the US. The lower cost allows patients to afford extended 14-day stays, which are crucial for monitoring late-onset swelling.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that looking presentable and feeling fully healed are different milestones. You may feel ready to socialize within 2 weeks. However, expect lingering ear sensitivity and minor tightness for up to 6 months.

How do I handle follow-ups once I return home after a facelift in Cancún?

After you return home, follow-up care mainly includes scheduled video calls and messaging apps like WhatsApp. Most Cancún clinics require you to stay 8 to 12 days for monitoring and stitch removal before you leave. You'll also need to arrange a local specialist at home for possible in-person checkups.

  • Virtual check-ins: You share photos and attend video sessions for at least 1 month.
  • Stitch removal: Make sure all stitches are removed in Cancún before you fly home.
  • Local coordination: Arrange a local surgeon in advance for wound checks if needed.
  • Elevated recovery: Sleep at a 45-degree angle for 14 days after surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most clinics, such as Riviera Institute, offer remote support. But the highest-rated providers often include daily nursing visits at your hotel during those first 8 days. The intensive early care takes place in Mexico. It lowers the chance you'll need urgent in-person checkups once you're back.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize staying in Cancún until the very last stitch is out. They often worry about finding a local doctor willing to touch another surgeon's work. So, having a pre-arranged local contact is essential for peace of mind.
