Trustworthy, reassuring and all round lovely Dr and person About the Doctor: Trustworthy, reassuring and all round lovely Dr and person About the Clinic: Yes - overall support was brilliant
Trustworthy, reassuring and all round lovely Dr and person Thank you - excited be able to enjoy life again! Yes - overall support was brilliant. Fouad from Bookimed was so patient with me and so helpful, and not sure Teresa ever sleeps. Thank you both! However due to timing I think the initial 24 hours I assume would be better usually, but it is holiday season - I think better expectation setting there and having someone on hand at departure who could inform me of the steps and answer my questions - but despite this I am sure the follow up for me in that short window would not being the usual experience as otherwise the support was amazing and I was given time during holidays by Dr G which I value and appreciate - it is an important time of the process though so I would recommend having someone like Mercedes on hand! It’s scary seeing yourself after surgery and I was left feeling very unaware for nearly 48 hours! I do want to highlight that everyone in the hospital was great and professional the two nurses who looked after me directly after the surgery were so lovely and obviously all involved in the surgery and end to end treatment - but extra special thanks to you Mercedes - a really special human and very valuable member and representative of the organisation and hospital! Thank you

There was only one seal, so I advise you to make the documents more official, so that you would not be so scared to pay for the consultation
Passed online consultation. After the consultation, a treatment plan was created, which we will undergo, further consultations will continue. Online consultation is very convenient and of course there were some doubts, especially when the invoice was billed, because it was a bit confusing, there was only one seal, so I advise you to make the documents more official, so that you would not be so scared to pay for the consultation.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct or enhance the results of a previous nose surgery.

Pros: Addresses previous surgery issues with precision, improving breathing in 70% of patients. Offers enhanced facial symmetry compared to initial rhinoplasty.
Cons: Longer recovery than tip rhinoplasty, with potential for increased swelling. Requires skilled surgeons, limiting options for some patients.
Effectiveness: 85% success rate in achieving desired aesthetic and functional outcomes.
Duration: 3-4 hours
Recovery: About 2-3 weeks for initial recovery, with full healing in 6-12 months.
Best for: Correcting previous nasal surgeries, improving nasal structure, addressing functional breathing issues.
Prices: Cost of Revision rhinoplasty in Spain from $6,000

Tip Rhinoplasty

This procedure focuses on reshaping the nasal tip for improved aesthetics or function.

Pros: Less invasive than open rhinoplasty, with reduced swelling and shorter recovery. Offers precise results for nasal tip refinement.
Cons: Limited to the tip area, might not address broader nasal issues like closed or open rhinoplasty could.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 85-90% in achieving desired tip refinement.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 5-7 days
Best for: Nasal tip asymmetry, bulbous tip, over-projected tip correction.
Prices: Cost of Tip rhinoplasty in Spain from $5,300

Closed Rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty is a nasal surgery technique where incisions are made inside the nostrils, leaving no visible scars.

Pros: No external scars, shorter operating time, and reduced swelling compared to open rhinoplasty. It preserves nasal structure better than alarplasty.
Cons: Limited access to nasal structures, making complex revisions challenging. Not suitable for ultrasonic rhinoplasty precision.
Effectiveness: 85-90% success rate in achieving desired aesthetic outcomes.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 1-2 weeks
Best for: Minor nasal tip adjustments and dorsal hump reduction. Enhances facial symmetry.
Prices: Cost of Closed rhinoplasty in Spain from $5,300

Open Rhinoplasty

A surgical procedure allowing complete access to nasal structures for reshaping.

Pros: Offers precise modifications and visibility. Up to 95% accuracy in achieving desired nasal shape. Allows for extensive structural work not possible in closed rhinoplasty.
Cons: Longer recovery time due to external incision. Scarring risk, although minimal, is higher than closed rhinoplasty.
Effectiveness: Success rate is approximately 85-90% for achieving cosmetic goals.
Duration: 3-4 hours
Recovery: 1-2 weeks for initial recovery, with complete healing in 6-12 months.
Best for: Complex nasal deformities, major structural changes, and detailed aesthetic enhancements.
Prices: Cost of Open rhinoplasty in Spain from $5,300

Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty

Utilizes ultrasonic technology to reshape the nose with precision and minimal trauma.

Pros: Less bruising and swelling than traditional methods. Precise bone sculpting reduces tissue damage by 30%.
Cons: Limited availability of experienced surgeons. May not address complex nasal deformities effectively.
Effectiveness: 85% success rate in achieving desired nasal structure.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 7-10 days
Best for: Enhancing nasal symmetry and contour with minimal invasiveness.
Prices: Cost of Ultrasonic rhinoplasty in Spain from $5,800

FAQ about Rhinoplasty (nose job) in Spain

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What is Hispanic Rhinoplasty and do Spanish clinics perform it?

Hispanic rhinoplasty is an ethnic procedure that refines nasal structures while preserving heritage-specific traits like thick skin and bulbous tips. Spanish clinics perform these surgeries extensively, often utilizing 3D CT planning and ultrasonic techniques to ensure facial harmony without erasing ethnic identity.

  • Anatomical focus: Surgeons address weak tip support, wide bridges, and thick, oily skin tissues.
  • Expert techniques: Specialists use 3D simulation and ultrasonic tools for precise, predictable nasal reshaping.
  • Clinic options: Top centers like Centro Médico Teknon in Barcelona treat high-profile international clientele.
  • Surgeon credentials: Many Spanish experts hold memberships in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer general rhinoplasty, the most successful ethnic outcomes in Spain come from surgeons using 3D facial scanning. Doctors like Javier Herrero Jover at Centro Médico Teknon pioneered 3D surgical planning to account for the structural complexity of Hispanic nasal anatomy.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that feeling self-conscious about a bulbous tip is common, but 24-hour nursing support during the initial recovery makes the emotional transition much easier.

Will the doctors and medical staff speak English?

Most Spanish rhinoplasty surgeons and patient coordinators speak fluent English, especially in international centers in Barcelona and Madrid. While lead surgeons often have international training, support staff like nurses or receptionists may have varying proficiency levels. Always confirm dedicated language support before booking.

  • Surgeon proficiency: Leading specialists like Dr. Javier Herrero Jover often possess international training and credentials.
  • Language assistance: Clinics like Clinica Granado Tiagonce provide dedicated language assistance at no extra charge.
  • Staff variability: English is common but not guaranteed for every nurse or post-operative staff member.
  • Documentation support: International-facing clinics typically provide medical plans and post-operative instructions in English.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Quality often aligns with high-volume centers; Centro Médico Teknon serves 10,000 patients annually and attracts international celebrities. Data shows that larger clinics with over 20,000 annual patients, such as Hospital Ruber Internacional, invest more heavily in multilingual staff to support their global reputation.

Patient Consensus: Patients report that while surgeons are highly reassuring and fluent, the initial 24 hours can feel isolating if nursing staff have limited English. Bringing a written list of questions helps ensure clarity during recovery.

Do I need to stay in Spain for a long time?

Most patients spend 7 to 10 days in Spain for rhinoplasty. You typically stay 1 day in the hospital for monitoring. Surgeons remove casts or splints after 1 week. You are usually cleared for air travel once the external supports are removed.

  • Hospital stay: Expect 1 day of hospitalization for initial recovery and monitoring after general anesthesia.
  • Mandatory rest: The first 3 days are hardest, requiring significant downtime before any light activity.
  • Suture removal: Surgeons like Dr. Javier Herrero Jover typically remove splints between days 7 and 10.
  • Travel clearance: Plan to stay at least 8 days to ensure safe flying after the procedure.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Analysis of premium packages at Centro Médico Teknon shows they bundle 6 hotel nights with 1 hospital night. This 7-day total aligns perfectly with the standard timeline for safe splint removal. Choosing these pre-arranged stays ensures you are under local medical reach during the most critical recovery week.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently mention that while the first 3 days feel congested, they can enjoy light walks around Barcelona or Madrid by day 5. Most felt comfortable flying home immediately after their day 8 follow-up appointment.

How long do I need to stay in Spain after the surgery?

Plan to stay in Spain for at least 5 to 7 days after rhinoplasty surgery. This window allows for critical monitoring during the peak swelling period and ensures your surgeon can safely remove the splint or nasal cast before you fly home.

  • Hospital stay: Most patients transition to a hotel after 1 day or a few hours recovery.
  • Initial recovery: Anticipate significant swelling or cold-like symptoms during the first 2 to 4 days.
  • Follow-up visit: Surgeons typically schedule the first post-operative check and cast removal at day 7.
  • Air travel: Secure medical clearance before flying to manage pressure changes and prevent rare complications.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics suggest a 5-day stay, premium packages at centers like Centro Médico Teknon often include 6 nights in a 4-star hotel. This extra day is a strategic buffer for international patients, as early flight pressure can increase nasal discomfort if inflammation hasn't subsided.

Patient Consensus: Many find the first 48 hours feel like a severe cold. They recommend building an extra buffer day into your trip rather than aiming for the shortest possible stay.

What is the recovery process like?

Rhinoplasty recovery in Spain typically lasts 2 weeks for initial healing, though complete swelling resolution takes 12 months. Most patients return to light activities within 7 to 10 days. Advanced techniques like ultrasonic rhinoplasty and 3D simulation help surgeons ensure predictable outcomes and manageable healing.

  • Hospital stay: Expect 0 to 1 day of observation under general anesthesia.
  • Activity restrictions: Maintain low activity for 1–2 weeks to prevent bruising or bleeding.
  • Symptom management: Congestion and cheek swelling are common, often managed with mild pain relief.
  • Final results: Nose shape refines gradually, with the permanent outcome visible after 1 year.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While standard packages Focus on surgery, top Spanish providers like Centro Médico Teknon integrate hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This specialized post-operative care accelerates tissue repair and reduces inflammation faster than rest alone. Choosing clinics with 3D CT planning also reduces revision risks by mapping nasal structures before the first incision.

Patient Consensus: Many patients describe an emotional rollercoaster, feeling the nose looks unusual until the cast is removed. Support during the first week is vital for managing meals and cleaning stitches twice daily.

What is the difference between an open and closed rhinoplasty?

Open rhinoplasty involves a small incision across the columella for maximum visibility and precision during complex reshaping. Closed rhinoplasty uses internal incisions inside the nostrils for subtle changes. Both procedures in Spain utilize 3D CT planning and virtual simulation to ensure natural, predictable results.

  • Incision location: Open uses a tiny external cut; closed remains entirely inside the nostrils.
  • Surgical access: Open allows direct views of cartilage; closed relies on internal feel.
  • Best application: Open suits major tip work; closed works for minor hump reduction.
  • Recovery period: Closed usually results in less initial swelling and slightly faster healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While patients often fear the external scar of open rhinoplasty, Spanish specialists like Dr. Javier Herrero Jover use 3D navigation to make these incisions virtually invisible. In high-stakes environments like Centro Médico Teknon—popular with elite athletes and celebrities—surgeons prioritize the open approach for its superior long-term structural stability over the faster recovery of closed techniques.

Patient Consensus: Patients report the columella scar from open procedures becomes imperceptible within weeks. Many feel comfortable returning to public activities after 10 days, regardless of the chosen technique.

Can I combine functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty?

Combining functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty is standard practice in Spain, often performed as a septorhinoplasty. Surgeons address structural breathing issues like a deviated septum while simultaneously reshaping the nose. This approach ensures a single recovery period and ensures the new aesthetic shape supports optimal airflow.

  • Surgical efficiency: Patients undergo one anesthesia session and one recovery phase for two procedures.
  • 3D planning: Clinics like Centro Médico Teknon use 3D CT scans for precision-guided airway and aesthetic modeling.
  • Expert specialization: Surgeons often hold dual experience in ENT and facial plastic surgery for complex cases.
  • Natural results: Specialist surgeons in Spain typically focus on maintaining structural integrity for natural-looking outcomes.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Leading Spanish surgeons like Dr. Javier Herrero Jover use 3D simulation to show how structural corrections affect your final look. With over 10,000 procedures, such high-volume experience is vital for septorhinoplasty because internal structural changes must perfectly align with external cosmetic goals.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the peace of mind in fixing breathing and appearance at once. Many recommend bringing a detailed airway assessment to the first consultation to ensure both goals are addressed.
