Rhinoplasty (nose job) in Turkey: Your Travel Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Turkey
  • Upon arrival in Turkey, you will be picked up by a VIP transfer service from the airport and taken to your accommodation. You should arrive on morning flights to ensure enough time for pre-operative consultations and tests.
  • You may have a consultation with your plastic surgeon, depending on your schedule. During this consultation, 3D modeling of the nose may be performed to simulate expected surgery results. A video microscope might be used for an internal examination of the nose, especially if septoplasty is planned.
  • Pre-operative tests such as blood tests, chest X-ray, and ECG are typically conducted on this day. Ensure these are completed before 12:00 to avoid delays.
  • You need to stop smoking at least 2 weeks before surgery to promote better healing and avoid complications.
Day 2: Surgery Day
  • The rhinoplasty procedure will be performed under general anesthesia. If septoplasty is also required, the surgery may last between 2.5-3 hours. Otherwise, it typically takes 1.5-2 hours.
  • Post-surgery, a plaster or special thermoplastic material splint is placed outside the nose. If septoplasty was performed, silicone splints may be placed in the air channels.
  • Oily gas buffers are no longer used. You will be advised to breathe through your mouth, swallow saliva, and avoid touching your face to ensure a smooth recovery from anesthesia.
  • You will stay overnight at the hospital for monitoring and initial recovery.
Day 3: Post-Operative Check-Up
  • A post-operative check-up will be conducted by the surgeon. This includes dressing changes and assessing the initial recovery progress.
  • If you have silicone splints, they might remain in place for 1-4 weeks, depending on your recovery.
  • You will be discharged from the hospital and advised to rest at your accommodation. Avoid physical exertion and keep your head elevated to minimize swelling.
Day 4-6: Recovery and Follow-Up
  • Continue resting and follow the post-operative care instructions provided by your surgeon. This includes using prescribed painkillers, antibiotics, and antihistamines.
  • Apply ice packs to the eyes as long as you can tolerate to reduce swelling and bruising. Do this for the first 24 hours post-surgery.
  • Avoid wetting the external nasal splint. If you need to shower, do so from the neck down.
  • Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your surgeon to monitor your recovery.
Day 7: Splint Removal and Final Check-Up
  • Return to the clinic for the removal of the external nasal splint. A paper tape may be applied to the nose for an additional week to support the new shape.
  • Ensure your head is washed by a hairdresser before the appointment to keep the splint area clean.
  • After the paper tape is removed, the nose will be completely unwrapped.
  • Discuss any concerns or questions with your surgeon during this final check-up.
Day 8: Departure and Returning Home
  • Prepare for your flight back home. Ensure you have all necessary medications and post-operative care instructions for your journey.
  • Continue to avoid strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and contact sports for at least 4-6 weeks to ensure proper healing.
  • Plan follow-up appointments with your local healthcare provider to monitor long-term recovery.
  • Contact the clinic if you have any questions or concerns after returning home. They may offer a 24/7 emergency support line for post-operative assistance.
Additional Advice
  • Avoid wearing glasses for at least 1 month post-surgery to prevent pressure on the healing nose.
  • Engage in light activities and gradually resume normal routines as advised by your surgeon.
  • Expect most swelling to subside within 2-4 weeks, with final results taking up to a year to fully develop.
  • Be cautious of potential risks such as infections, asymmetry, or the need for revision surgery. Discuss these with your surgeon and adhere to their guidelines to minimize complications.

The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent
The possibility of breathing issues was my primary concern going into this. And honestly, that has been the biggest challenge in recovery so far, with one nostril constantly feeling stuffed. My surgeon performed a closed rhinoplasty. Everything is still very swollen along the bridge, but I can already see that my nose tip appears more refined, which is a great sign. The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent. The general staff were great, though post-op instructions could have been a bit more explicit. I'm satisfied with the medical care I received so far
Dr. Erol is an amazing doctor, his work was amazing he truly listened to my request and expectations and he was really patient and reassuring. The medical assistance team as well, they really took good care of me, they were present when i needed them.
post-op instructions could’ve been explained better

I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter
I felt very secure and taken care of through the entire experience. All of my inquiries were answered very promptly by both the bookiemed coordinator, the assistant, and my doctor (Dr. C Altindąg), is very experienced and talked me through what to expect and analyzed my nose very thoroughly. I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter (I had a severe deviated septum and other complications from a past surgery that he identified and corrected including a mirgrated graft and a droopy tip). I'm still quite swollen but look forward to seeing final results in a few months.

But the calmness and poise of the doctor and his team completely dispelled my doubts
I liked everything overall. Initially, I was very afraid, starting with the flight to another country, the transfer to the hotel and the operation itself. But the calmness and poise of the doctor and his team completely dispelled my doubts. 5 hours after the operation I returned to the hotel. Which is also very good because the hospital ward is the worst for me. Exactly after a week I took off the splint, my nose was still swollen. The nose is proportional to my face. When the swelling goes down it will be smaller

The clinic and the surgeon did an excellent job managing my care from the very first consultation, and the staff were consistently supportive
My biggest worry was the recovery process itself—not the final outcome, but the immediate aftermath. I'll be honest, it is challenging. My breathing has been completely blocked, which is an uncomfortable feeling. As expected, my nose is still very swollen, with a bulky tip and a puffy bridge where the minor hump was removed. But I was prepared for this. The clinic and the surgeon did an excellent job managing my care from the very first consultation, and the staff were consistently supportive. Even with the swelling, I am confident in the path forward thanks to their skill. The procedure was done using a closed technique.
Dr eroglu was amazing really reesssuring friendly, I had someone with me for translation and felt very supported. Nurse visits were good and she was also brilliant. Highly reccomend.

To say that I was shocked by the doctor's approach to treatment is to say nothing. My impressions to you, just do not wish to experience. The operation was agreed in advance counselling and my wishes. The day of the operation came. In the morning I was picked up from the hotel and with an interpreter, I went through all the analyses. On the question when I will have a meeting with the doctor I was told at 9 am then I pointed out that I am allergic to one drug. But they wouldn't give me any medication before the operation without the doctor's consent. When I was already changed clothes for the operation ( I apologise myself in underwear, in an operating gown ) came the doctor and began to explain to me on his hands that it can not be like this, as I want and he sees it all differently. He began to explain to me with his fingers how it will be. Interrupting the interpreter. The interpreter couldn't keep up with the translation. Hurrying me to make a decision. I replied that I couldn't make a decision without seeing any pictures of what was waiting for me. Then after about an hour of dialogue, the doctor corrected the curvature of my nose on the telephoto in front of me and said here's what awaits you and covered the tip of my nose with his hand. Again we heard my refusal, to which I was told there is no time and I have to make a decision. They told me there was no time and I had to make a decision. My wishes were ignored. What was agreed upon before the operation was changed. My wishes were to correct the curvature and to change and reduce the tip of the nose. The result of the operation is that the curvature was not corrected and the septum remained the same. But the cartilage was grown on the side, which I did not ask for at all, and the nose was visually enlarged and the tip was corrected. Now I'm just shocked with my appearance to say the least. Everything was done at the discretion of the doctor. He ignored all my wishes. Putting me in front of the fact. Without showing me a single photo of what's in store for me. Explaining it to me on my fingers.

I can already see that the tip looks natural, which makes me very happy
My biggest worry was that my nose would look unnatural, but I can already see that the tip looks natural, which makes me very happy. The recovery process itself isn’t easy: my nose is completely blocked, and there’s still severe swelling on the bridge, so the final result isn’t visible yet. But the main thing is that the noticeable bump that was bothering me has been removed. The surgeon and the clinic staff provided excellent support at every stage. For me, it was the right choice.

I’m very grateful
My biggest worry was that my nose would look unnatural and that the result wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Now, even though I’m still recovering, I can see that I was worrying for nothing. They removed a small bump, and the bridge of my nose is straighter, just as I’d hoped. I’d also like to mention that the tip of my nose now looks more refined. My breathing has improved too. I think ultrasonic piezorhinoplasty was the right choice. The whole team, from the staff to the surgeon, were very attentive and professional, which helped me feel at ease. I’m very grateful.
We loved everything; the organisation was top-notch. A special thank you to our coordinator, Valentina. They helped us sort everything out and were always on hand. Thank you so much 🙏🏻❗️

The medical support I received was excellent
My biggest worry was what the final profile would look like, especially after having a significant dorsal hump removed. It’s very early in the recovery process, and my nose bridge is still quite swollen, so I can't really see the new shape of the tip yet. That’s to be expected. However, the surgeon and all the staff have been attentive and clear about the healing timeline, which has been reassuring. The level of care was great. While I’m waiting for the swelling to go down to see the final result, the medical support I received was excellent.
My translator Yaren was very sweet and guided me through everything I needed to know and also booked everything for me so I had no stress. My doctor Mr Mehmet also was very professional and found the internal problems for my breathing issues very quickly. Surgery went well and post operation care was optimal.

Even at this stage the tip of my nose looks more refined, and my breathing has improved noticeably compared to before
The surgeon really did take my wishes on board. I had open rhinoplasty to remove a small bump, and even at this stage the tip of my nose looks more refined, and my breathing has improved noticeably compared to before. Of course, recovery is a process. It’s still very early days, and I can see that one side of the bridge of my nose is uneven due to swelling, which is a bit worrying. The staff were generally helpful, although there were occasional minor delays in communication. My main advice to anyone preparing for surgery is to be patient during the recovery period and remember that the final result takes time.

My breathing is better than before, and the tip of my nose looks natural
To anyone who’s unsure, I’d say this: if you have insecurities and don’t feel confident, it’s worth taking this step – the sooner, the better. I entrusted my operation to Dr Ergan Er, who performed open rhinoplasty. Even at this early stage of recovery, I can already see the results. My breathing is better than before, and the tip of my nose looks natural. The whole clinic team was very responsive and professional, which was a great support. My main advice is: if you’ve made up your mind, go to Dr Ergan Er.
Varvara, a very polite and understanding interpreter, provided us with first-class support. She was always in touch with us, and her positive attitude was a great help to us. And we are very grateful to our doctor, Ergin Er, the very best specialist in his field. My daughter and I had long dreamed of seeing him specifically because I had seen the results of his work. In my opinion, Dr Ergin Er is the very best specialist in his field 🤲🏻🤲🏻🤲🏻
I would advise the local staff to be a little more polite and to wear a warm, welcoming smile (like Varvara the interpreter), as everyone’s positive attitude has an impact on the patient.

Even at this early stage of recovery, I feel that my breathing is better than before
I was worried about how I would breathe after the operation, as that was one of the main reasons I came here. It’s simply incredible, but even at this early stage of recovery, I feel that my breathing is better than before. That’s the main thing. I had open rhinoplasty, and the whole process, from the consultation right through to the operation itself, was very well organised. The staff at the clinic are caring, and the surgeon inspired complete confidence right from the start. Of course, there is still some swelling, but I can already see positive changes and am grateful to the team for their work.
I’m absolutely delighted; I’ve wanted this particular specialist for a long time, and finally, together with my daughter, we’ve made our dream come true. A huge thank you to everyone who supported us along the way. Dr Ergin Er has a wealth of experience and does his job to perfection.
Everything was fine.

A pleasant surprise is that my breathing is actually better than before
If I had to give advice to a friend considering this surgery, I’d talk to them about the recovery. It’s essential to have comfortable clothes, plan for complete rest, and mentally prepare yourself to breathe through your mouth for a while. I had open rhinoplasty to remove a significant bump, and although the process has only just begun, I can already see that the bridge of my nose is straighter, just as I wanted. A pleasant surprise is that my breathing is actually better than before. The tip of my nose is still quite thick, but that’s part of the process. My most important advice is to follow the doctor’s instructions to the letter and apply plenty of ice.
Overall, I was very pleased with everything – from the staff’s service to that of the doctor and his team. Everything was very well organised. During the face-to-face consultation, the doctor understood exactly what I wanted and carried it out very well. Everything was excellent.

He has done the most incredible job and it is better than I could’ve hoped for
I had a septorhinoplasty with Dr Ergin Er at Istanbul aesthetics plastic surgery centre, and had an incredible experience!! Everyone was incredibly supportive and helpful. Elviira, my Bookimed coordinator, was amazing at answering any questions I had (which was a lot!) and making sure I felt comfortable throughout the whole process. I was checked up on after my visit and also when I returned after a few weeks, with full end-to-end support. I had a smooth transition to Yasin, my medical manager, who was flawless at arranging travel and all logistics and also incredibly helpful with aftercare instructions. I did not have to worry or take care of anything myself. The hospital was clean, modern and comfortable and made sure I was ok at all times. The staff were incredibly attentive and more than happy to help answer any questions I had and made sure I didn’t feel nervous going in. My husband who stayed with me throughout was also well taken care of (given meals and bedding to stay next to me overnight), which was hugely appreciated. My surgeon, Dr Ergin Er, was very professional and reassuring- I’ve previously had a septoplasty in the UK which he needed to correct as well as performing the rhinoplasty as we had planned. There were no hidden or extra costs and I’m finally able to breathe clearly (like I was supposed to when I had surgery in London). He clearly communicated realistic expectations and what would suit my face I’m currently almost a month postop and couldn’t be more thrilled with the results! He has done the most incredible job and it is better than I could’ve hoped for I can’t wait to see what it looks like as it heals further but he’s truly turned my biggest insecurity into my new favourite feature! The after-care was fantastic and the recovery process was very easy. All the staff at the hospital were incredible and took such great care of me which I couldn’t be more thankful for. Overall, I had an amazing experience and i’m so pleased with how it’s turned out. I was fully taken care of from the first message to now. Originally I was a bit nervous about travelling abroad for surgery and wasn’t sure what to expect but this whole process has been so easy and smooth that I would absolutely do it again and recommend it to others. Everyone was so supportive and great at calming my nerves and reassuring me throughout every step of the way. I couldn’t be more thankful to my surgeon and the rest of the team for the amazing work they did.

Incredible!! Everyone I spoke to has been so supportive and reassuring and I couldn’t have had a more flawless experience- Elviira was amazing and has been super responsive and helpful throughout from the first day I messaged. There was no pressure and Elviira was happy to help answer all of my questions (and even check some with the hospital so they were definitely accurate). Bookimed was great and I would definitely recommend everyone I’ve spoken with if anyone I know is keen to go through a similar experience.

The Dr and his assistant both responded in the middle of the night to a question I sent them after the surgery. That is outstanding care!! I picked Dr Cem because he specializes in noses and is highly rated. I am working to take my daughter there soon for him to work his magic on her nose also. Before and two weeks later pictures! Thank you Dr Cem

Our Rhinoplasty (nose job) Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Rhinoplasty (nose job), it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct or enhance the results of a previous nose surgery.

Pros: Addresses previous surgery issues with precision, improving breathing in 70% of patients. Offers enhanced facial symmetry compared to initial rhinoplasty.
Cons: Longer recovery than tip rhinoplasty, with potential for increased swelling. Requires skilled surgeons, limiting options for some patients.
Effectiveness: 85% success rate in achieving desired aesthetic and functional outcomes.
Duration: 3-4 hours
Recovery: About 2-3 weeks for initial recovery, with full healing in 6-12 months.
Best for: Correcting previous nasal surgeries, improving nasal structure, addressing functional breathing issues.
Prices: Cost of Revision rhinoplasty in Turkey from $4,641

Tip Rhinoplasty

This procedure focuses on reshaping the nasal tip for improved aesthetics or function.

Pros: Less invasive than open rhinoplasty, with reduced swelling and shorter recovery. Offers precise results for nasal tip refinement.
Cons: Limited to the tip area, might not address broader nasal issues like closed or open rhinoplasty could.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 85-90% in achieving desired tip refinement.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 5-7 days
Best for: Nasal tip asymmetry, bulbous tip, over-projected tip correction.
Prices: Cost of Tip rhinoplasty in Turkey from $2,808

Closed Rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty is a nasal surgery technique where incisions are made inside the nostrils, leaving no visible scars.

Pros: No external scars, shorter operating time, and reduced swelling compared to open rhinoplasty. It preserves nasal structure better than alarplasty.
Cons: Limited access to nasal structures, making complex revisions challenging. Not suitable for ultrasonic rhinoplasty precision.
Effectiveness: 85-90% success rate in achieving desired aesthetic outcomes.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 1-2 weeks
Best for: Minor nasal tip adjustments and dorsal hump reduction. Enhances facial symmetry.
Prices: Cost of Closed rhinoplasty in Turkey from $1,157

Open Rhinoplasty

A surgical procedure allowing complete access to nasal structures for reshaping.

Pros: Offers precise modifications and visibility. Up to 95% accuracy in achieving desired nasal shape. Allows for extensive structural work not possible in closed rhinoplasty.
Cons: Longer recovery time due to external incision. Scarring risk, although minimal, is higher than closed rhinoplasty.
Effectiveness: Success rate is approximately 85-90% for achieving cosmetic goals.
Duration: 3-4 hours
Recovery: 1-2 weeks for initial recovery, with complete healing in 6-12 months.
Best for: Complex nasal deformities, major structural changes, and detailed aesthetic enhancements.
Prices: Cost of Open rhinoplasty in Turkey from $1,157

Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty

Utilizes ultrasonic technology to reshape the nose with precision and minimal trauma.

Pros: Less bruising and swelling than traditional methods. Precise bone sculpting reduces tissue damage by 30%.
Cons: Limited availability of experienced surgeons. May not address complex nasal deformities effectively.
Effectiveness: 85% success rate in achieving desired nasal structure.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 7-10 days
Best for: Enhancing nasal symmetry and contour with minimal invasiveness.
Prices: Cost of Ultrasonic rhinoplasty in Turkey from $2,870

Rhinoplasty in Turkey attracts over 5 million patient requests through Bookimed alone – and for good reason: prices run from $2,800 to $7,100, roughly 65%–75% below US costs of $10,000–$22,000. Bookimed works only with verified partner clinics – every surgeon profile on the platform shows board certifications, real patient reviews, and facility accreditations, so you are comparing credentialed options, not anonymous listings. But saving money on the surgery itself is only part of the decision. Before you book, there are four things every international patient should understand that most clinic listings never cover: realistic revision rates, who actually qualifies for surgery, how to fly home safely, and what to do if a complication develops after you're back.

Rhinoplasty Revision Rates in Turkey: What Clinical Studies Actually Show

Clinic pages routinely advertise satisfaction rates of 95% or higher. The peer-reviewed data offers a more precise baseline for planning.

A PubMed study of 252 open rhinoplasty cases found an overall revision rate of 10.8%. The top three anatomical reasons patients required a second procedure were: insufficient nasal tip rotation (37.7%), hanging columella (30.2%), and supratip deformity (28.6%), according to the study published on PubMed. A separate PubMed analysis of 369 cosmetic rhinoplasties recorded a 7.9% complication rate and 15.4% patient dissatisfaction – driven largely by failure to address the nasal tip and prior nasal trauma.

Two clinical factors significantly raise individual risk:

  • Age over 40: a 6.8-fold increased risk of developing a hanging columella compared to younger patients;
  • Strut graft technique vs. tongue-in-groove: a 5.3-fold higher risk of inadequate tip rotation and a 2.2-fold higher risk of supratip deformity.

Statistically, approximately 1 in 10 patients will undergo revision surgery – a realistic benchmark backed by peer-reviewed data, not marketing estimates. On Bookimed, revision rhinoplasty in Turkey runs from $4,700 to $5,500. Factor this into your total budget, and discuss your technique preferences and age-related risk profile with your surgeon during the consultation.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty in Turkey?

Eligibility criteria for rhinoplasty are medical, not cosmetic. Booking with a disqualifying condition – and discovering it only after arriving in Istanbul – wastes time, money, and creates genuine medical risk. Here is what authoritative sources, including the Mayo Clinic, recommend you confirm before booking a flight.

Medical prerequisites

You should be in good general health and free from the following before proceeding:

  • Active cardiac conditions or uncontrolled high blood pressure – both disqualify patients from safe surgery under general anesthesia;
  • Bleeding disorders such as hemophilia – absolute contraindication;
  • Incomplete facial skeletal development – typically means being 18 or older (slightly later for males);
  • Nicotine use – stop smoking or vaping completely at least 4–6 weeks before surgery. Nicotine constricts blood vessels and sharply raises the risk of tissue death, delayed wound healing, and severe infection.

Medications to stop before surgery

Discuss these with your surgeon during your pre-operative consultation, but as a general rule:

  • Stop 2 weeks before surgery: aspirin, ibuprofen, and other anti-inflammatory medications;
  • Stop 2 weeks before surgery: herbal supplements including fish oil, vitamin E, and ginkgo – all significantly increase intraoperative bleeding risk;
  • Nicotine – any form, any delivery method – must be stopped 4–6 weeks before. This is non-negotiable.

A realistic outlook matters too: rhinoplasty improves proportion and function based on your existing anatomy. It does not produce an identical copy of a celebrity nose or guarantee a specific aesthetic result – a competent surgeon will say this openly during consultation, and it is a reassuring sign, not a red flag.

Flying Home After Rhinoplasty: Safety Guidelines and Aviation Physiology

Most patients need 5–7 days minimum before flying home after rhinoplasty in Turkey – here is what the physiology explains and what to do on the flight. Most clinic itineraries show "Day 8: departure" with no further context. That brevity misses a set of real physiological risks that deserve a full explanation.

Why flying too soon is medically dangerous

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) recommends waiting a minimum of 5–7 days before boarding a flight after facial surgery. The reasoning is specific:

  • DVT and pulmonary embolism risk: surgery combined with a long-haul flight significantly elevates the risk of deep vein thrombosis and, in severe cases, fatal pulmonary embolism, according to ASPS guidelines;
  • Cabin humidity at 12%: aircraft cabins operate at roughly 12% relative humidity – lower than most deserts. This severely dries out healing nasal passages and sharply raises the risk of spontaneous mid-flight nosebleeds;
  • Cabin pressure drops: decreased cabin air pressure exacerbates postoperative facial swelling, strains healing blood vessels, and worsens bruising;
  • No overhead bin lifting: for at least two weeks post-surgery. Sudden exertion spikes facial blood pressure and can trigger internal bleeding or hematomas.

If you had rib cartilage harvested for augmentation, your surgeon may recommend waiting 10–14 days – the chest wall needs time to heal from where the cartilage was collected.

Your in-flight safety protocol

  1. Saline nasal spray every 2 hours throughout the flight to counteract the low-humidity environment.
  2. Skip the salty airplane food – sodium triggers rebound swelling that compounds the pressure-related puffiness.
  3. Walk the aisle every 45 minutes – DVT prevention requires movement, not just compression socks (though wear those too, for the entire flight).
  4. Skip the overhead bin entirely – ask a flight attendant or fellow passenger to stow your carry-on.
  5. Carry your surgeon's contact details on you, not only on your phone, in case you need to reach them for guidance during a stopover.

Bookimed packages with 5-night and 7-night hotel stays built in – like the packages available through The Nose Aesthetic Clinic ($4,100) and Istanbul Aesthetics Plastic Surgery Center ($4,300) – make it straightforward to reach the recommended minimum recovery window before flying.

Post-Surgery Follow-Up: What Happens When You Return Home

Packages reliably advertise "24/7 remote support." What they rarely address is what happens when a US or UK patient develops a minor complication three weeks after landing – and calls their local plastic surgeon for help.

Why local doctors may decline your care

The ASPS formally documents what many medical tourists discover only after returning home: local board-certified plastic surgeons frequently decline to provide routine postoperative care or treat complications from surgeries performed abroad. The reasons are structural, not personal:

  • medical liability – they are accepting responsibility for a procedure they did not perform;
  • unknown surgical technique – without operative notes, they cannot assess what was done or how;
  • unknown materials – without graft specifications, they cannot safely plan corrective intervention.

This is manageable with preparation. Spend 30 minutes before your return flight securing the documentation below – and any surgeon worldwide can treat you with confidence.

Your pre-departure document checklist

  • Translated operative notes – the full surgical record of what was done, in English;
  • Anesthesia records – required by any anesthesiologist who might treat you later;
  • Graft and material specifications – exact description of any cartilage used (rib, ear, septum) or synthetic material implanted;
  • Revision and complication policy in writing – what the clinic will do and how to reach them if something goes wrong;
  • Your Turkish surgeon's direct emergency number – not the general clinic line.

Bookimed coordinators are trained to facilitate this process. During your follow-up support period, your coordinator can help request translated records from the clinic on your behalf and maintain a communication channel with your surgeon for overseas questions.

How to Choose a Qualified Rhinoplasty Surgeon in Turkey

Bookimed verifies credentials for every clinic and surgeon listed on the platform before publication. Understanding what those credentials mean helps you ask the right questions during your consultation.

Surgeon verification checklist

  1. TSPRAS membership: Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons board certification requires 6 years of medical school, 4–5 years of specialty residency, and a board examination. Bookimed verifies and displays board certification status on each surgeon profile before listing.
  2. Turkish Medical Association registration: active registration confirms the doctor is currently licensed to practice in Turkey – not only historically trained there.
  3. Ministry of Health authorization: only facilities holding an International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate from the Turkish Ministry of Health can legally treat foreign patients. Bookimed partners hold this certificate.
  4. JCI accreditation (for hospital-based procedures): Joint Commission International accreditation verifies facility safety standards independently. Bookimed shows accreditation status on each clinic profile.
  5. MD Anesthesiologist on-site: Turkish law requires that only a medical doctor administers and continuously monitors general anesthesia throughout the procedure. Confirm this during your consultation – not after you arrive.

What Bookimed-listed clinics provide

Three of the top-listed Istanbul clinics hold JCI accreditation: Memorial Şişli Hospital (4.6/5 from 302 reviews, first hospital in Turkey to earn JCI accreditation, 252 beds, 13 operating rooms, full ICU), Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital (4.8/5, 148 reviews, TÜV NORD ISO certified, on-site translation confirmed by patient reviews), and Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital (4.6/5, JCI and ISO).

For rhinoplasty-specific expertise, The Nose Aesthetic Clinic (4.8/5, 80 reviews) holds a Health Tourism Facility Certificate from the Turkish Ministry of Health and is led by Dr. Cem Altındağ – a member of the European Rhinoplasty Society with 25+ years of experience and over 5,000 procedures performed.

The technical credentials are equally strong across the top-rated surgeons. At Istanbul Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Center, Dr. Gürhan Özcan holds EBOPRAS (European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery) certification and has been awarded by the American Society for Plastic Surgery – among the most rigorous international credentials available.

Pricing across these clinics runs from $2,800 to $7,100 for primary rhinoplasty – 65%–75% below US costs of $10,000–$22,000. With Bookimed's 390 verified rhinoplasty clinics in Turkey, the decision often comes down to choosing the right surgeon for your anatomy and technique preferences, not whether Turkey is the right country.
