My experience with the surgeon, staff, and clinic has been very positive
If a friend was considering this, I'd tell them my experience with the surgeon, staff, and clinic has been very positive. At this point in my recovery, everything is feeling about as expected. The clinic team has stayed in touch, and I really appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I initially paid. That was a relief. My main piece of advice would be to prepare well for your consultation. I would suggest asking for more time with the doctor before surgery and to bring pictures of what you’d like done specifically to make sure you're aligned.
I was assisted from beginning to end! Great price with a great and safe experience.

I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue
I had a really great experience with my doctor and care here. I wanted a very natural looking nose, not to look "doll-like" or like I had a rhinoplasty. Same for lip filler. I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue. I believe it required different degrees of cutting for each nostril so I'm very impressed that the end result's symmetry appears less than 1mm different from one another, that's a huge improvement from before. The shape is really nice and I was impressed that after surgery the packing was done in such a way that I was able to breathe through my nose the whole time, even during my recovery.

Terrible surgeon. Will not take the time to speak with you, when he does he knows limited English and is very very rushed. The first time me he gave me results that were so drastic I looked like a pig or someone from who-ville. I had to pay for a second surgery for him to give me my old nose but even worse! (Again super rushed, had zero time to make a decision). Absolutely awful experience. Scary. He refused to even try to fix my nose now for another 6 months. Even though I offered to pay again. Have to date and see friends humiliated with a half finished face. Go to someone with talent and who actually cares. He doesn’t. You are just a number to the surgeons there.

My experience with Dr. Ayala was quite unfortunate... He only spoke with me for about 10 minutes before the surgery and was very reluctant to answer questions afterward when I expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the neck and ear surgery. He mentioned that I could come back in a couple of months for corrections. When I returned, I decided to have an abdominal liposuction at the same time, and again there was a lack of follow-up regarding what I should do, wear, or any other post-operative instructions... Once more, one of my ears was not corrected and looked even worse than before. When I returned to have the sutures removed, I pointed this out, and he said it was normal, whereas I argued that my other ear looked fine, but this one did not. His only suggestion was to wait another couple of months and to return once more. At that point, I showed him my liposuction, which also looked poorly done, with a lot of fibrosis... He provided no advice other than recommending ultrasonic treatments. I looked online and found out I should be wearing compression garments and getting lymphatic drainage massages for the fluid buildup. When I visited a masseuse, she explained everything I needed to do, but it also cost me an additional thousand dollars. The entire experience was very disappointing, and now I have to see another surgeon to correct one of my ears, hopefully for the last time. It all started on January 3, and now it's already May, and I still haven’t resolved the problem! I really liked everyone I worked with, but I cannot, in good conscience, recommend them to anyone because I know they work at this clinic. I know others would be very disappointed as well!

FAQ about treatment in Mexico

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to get a nose job in Mexico City?

Mexico City is a safe destination for rhinoplasty. The key is certification from the Mexican Council of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery (CMCPER). Facilities like the José Cortés Institute report success rates up to 99%. They use ultrasonic techniques that minimize tissue trauma and swelling.

  • Surgeon certification: Look for CMCPER or AMCPER certification. This shows rigorous surgical training and high standards.
  • Advanced technology: Top clinics use ultrasonic (piezo) devices for more precise, less painful bone reshaping.
  • Clinical volume: Leading specialists like Dr. Alexandro Aguilera have performed over 3,000 successful operations.
  • Hospital standards: Plastic surgery practices operate within accredited facilities like Hospital Español.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient data shows a major benefit in choosing Mexico City over border towns. Specialized centers here, such as Allermedica, focus on combined functional and aesthetic nasal surgery. Their teams often possess over 30 years of experience. This expertise is vital for international patients seeking both cosmetic improvement and better breathing.

Patient Consensus: Patients say results are excellent. However, the city’s high altitude can worsen early swelling. Patients recommend staying at least 10 days. This makes sure travel is safe after the first recovery phase.

How long do I need to stay in Mexico City?

You should plan to stay 10 to 14 days in Mexico City for rhinoplasty. This gives your surgeon time to monitor your recovery during the critical early phase. You'll have your cast removed around day 7 and get final clearance before flying home.

  • Travel window: Most patients fly home safely 8 to 10 days after the procedure.
  • Cast removal: Surgeons usually remove protective splints and nasal casts around day 7.
  • Suture timeline: Stitches are usually left in until day 14.
  • Altitude adjustment: Arrive 2 days early to adjust to the city's 7,200-foot elevation before surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic recovery takes 10 days, choosing ultrasonic rhinoplasty with experts like Dr. Jose Cortes at José Cortés Institute can make a big difference. Our data shows this technology reduces bruising significantly. So patients often feel comfortable exploring neighborhoods like Polanco sooner than with traditional methods.

Patient Consensus: The first 3 to 5 days involve heavy congestion. Even so, most feel well enough to travel by day 10. Staying active with light walking helps, yet full swelling resolution takes up to a year.

What is included in a rhinoplasty package in Mexico City?

Rhinoplasty packages in Mexico City range from $3,200 to $5,500. These packages cover surgeon fees, anesthesia, and operating room charges. Standard packages often include pre-operative tests and post-operative medications. Premium options at clinics like Cirplast Plastic Surgery may also provide family accommodation and nursery services.

  • Surgeon credentials: Surgeons are certified by CMCPER and ASPS, so they meet international safety standards.
  • Medical services: Most plans bundle general anesthesia, facility fees, and essential pre-operative lab tests.
  • Recovery support: Several clinics include follow-up consultations, splint removal, and initial surgical medications.
  • Patient logistics: Premium tiers often provide free airport pickups, hotel booking assistance, and bilingual interpreters.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume clinics like José Cortés Institute and Allermedica serve 2,500 to 3,000 patients each year. They often pioneer ultrasonic techniques. Basic quotes might look low. However, these established centers often bundle specialized rehabilitation services. The bundled services are easier to manage than paying for post-op supplies individually.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize requesting a line-item quote. Standard base prices typically exclude personal costs like flights or specialized medical travel insurance. Most patients recommend budgeting an extra $125 for additional medications. They also suggest planning a 14-day stay to complete all follow-up care.
